As part of the 10th International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT 2019) that took place from 23 - 28 June 2019, ERIAN's Executive Director, Prof Subodh Mhaisalkar along with ERIAN's Cluster Director of Renewables & Low Carbon Generation (Solar) Assoc Prof Nripan Mathews, Songyuan Dai, Tsutomu Miyasaka and Nam-Gyu Park organised Symposium O, which focused on perovskite materials.
The five-day event at Marina Bay Sands Singapore brought together more than 230 research scientists, engineers and students from 23 countries, working in the frontier areas of perovskite materials for clean energy technologies. The event was organized in three parallel sessions with state-of-the-art presentations by 52 invited speakers along with 75 contributary talks (including 18 spotlight talks) and 93 poster presentations.
The main highlights of the sessions were the extensive discussions on the challenges in areas such as new perovskite materials (Pb-free, multidimensional etc.), characterization, photophysics, device interfaces, defects and the development of ‘lab to fab” technologies for outdoor applications. As part of the symposium, two special felicitation sessions were organized to honour the pioneers Prof Michael Grätzel, Prof Tsutomu Miyasaka and Prof Nam-Gyu Park for their contributions to the development of perovskite optoelectronics. In addition, 8 best poster awards were given out to young researchers from various countries. The recipients include Dr. Li Jia, Dr. Wang Hao, Dr. Prem Jyoti Singh Rana and Mr. P. C. Harikesh ( NTU, Singapore), Dr. Wang Kang, and Dr. Yucheng Liu ( Shaanxi Normal University, China), Dr. Hyang Mi Yu (Sungkyunkwan University , South Korea ) and Dr. Gee Yeong Kim (Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research (MPI-FKF), Germany.
A collection of peer-reviewed research papers from this symposium will be published as dual special issues in the reputable journals Advanced Energy Materials and Energy Technology (Wiley-VCH).
