NTU's offshore hybrid microgrid REIDS on Semakau Landfill

Published on: 10-May-2019

NTU's Renewable Energy Integration Demonstrator-Singapore (REIDS) is the largest system of interconnected micro-grids in South-east Asia. A project helmed by the Energy Research Institute @ NTU, the central hub of the REIDS system draws energy from the micro-grids which are powered by various sources such as wind turbines and solar panels, and then redistributes any excess energy unused by one micro-grid to another.

Dr Tan Wu Meng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry toured the REIDS site on Semakau Island on 10 May 2019 and was hosted by Prof Subodh Mhaisalkar, ERI@N's Executive Director, along with Prof Choo Fook Hoong, ERI@N's Co-Director and Programme Director of the REIDS project.
